The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese
When I was a kid I used to hang out at my best friends house, playing pirated games on his C64. Trolls were slain, castles were demolished and galaxies blown into oblivion. All to the accompaniment of Tracks, the number one music show on the radio in those days.
As we grew older and the games lost their charm, we started flipping the pages of the C64's manual and pretty soon we discovered something called "BASIC".
The short snippets of code in the manual weren't really that amazing. We made a ballon travel across the TV-screen, made some sort of gun shot blast through the speakers, and that was pretty much it. And that was my first contact with the world of programming.
Since then I've dabbled with ASP, developed in PHP/MySQL and dived head first into computer-aided graphic design. I've fallen in love with Flash and am trying my best to tame the beast that is Actionscript 3. Life is peachy.
